Adding Linked Records
Previous Topic  Next Topic

This function is used when you need to catalogue a single item containing a number of parts. It might be texts containing collections of works, such as poetry, short stories or plays. The benefits of linking records include -

To link a record you must first enter the parent record and barcode details.  Once this record has been catalogued you can then click on the Link option at the top of the screen and select Add Link.  You're now looking at a blank catalogue screen.

    1. Once the Add Link option is chosen the new screen will display LINKED at the top of the screen
    2. The cursor will automatically appear at the FRONT of the parent title.  You must type the title of the Linked record infront of the parent title to allow title searches
    3. The copy count will remain at Nil as a linked record DOES NOT have barcodes
    4. The Number field will display LINK
    5. Once you have finished adding the set details continue to add any keywords and subject headings relevant to this record.
