Some questions for new researchers...

• What is an Author?
• Does this book have an Author?
• Can resources that are not books have Authors?
• Can an item have more than one Author?
• What if a book has lots of Authors and the Publishers (what is a Publisher?) couldn't be bothered printing all the names on the item? Explain "et al."
• Who is the Author of this book?
• How might we look up this book in the Catalogue by using the Author search?
• Why might there be more than one Author in the Catalogue that could be the person we are looking for? (Data inconsistencies... Full names vs Initials)
• Can you find it in the Junior Catalogue? (If installed)
• Can you find it in our Web Catalogue? (If installed)
• Do you have a favourite Author?
• Have you looked up the Catalogue to see if we have all the books by that Author?
• How could we find out more about the Author?
• When and where they were born?
• Where did they grow up?
• Did they have fun when they were a kid?
• What do they do for a job when they are not writing books?
• Why did they write this book?
• How old was the Author when they wrote the book?
• How long did it take to write this book?
• How long would it take for us to make up this story or read enough other books to know enough about this topic to be able to write a book like this?

Doing an Author Search...

1. Go into the Catalogue (CMEPlus)
2. Click on the Title and Other Searches tab
3. Type in a few letters of the Authors surname
4. Click the Author button

Play around with the results until you end up printing a list of the items or looking at the details screen to see if the item is available or not
