This task is carried out during your first backup option ie Utilities / Backup-Restore / Backup. 

From time to time it may be necessary to carry out a reindex independent of the backup.

Just like the Fast Find index in the Yellow Pages, TextTracker has a "fast find" index... only there are quite a few of them.  Every time you add or edit data in the software the program keeps a track of records by creating indexes that make the searches quicker and allow things like the clickable sort columns on data display grids.  If something goes wrong with the saving of information to one or more of these index files because of power, network or operating system hiccups there can be problems.  We have built re-indexing into the Backup function of the software to fix up these errors on a daily basis but sometimes there is a need to do a re-index independently of the Backup process.

Usually you would only re-index like this after talking the the LibCode Support Team.

Set

• Rebuilds the indexes for the Catalogue Data

Authority

• Rebuilds the indexes for the picklist that you use when choosing subjects for resources

Circulation

• Rebuilds the indexes for all the Borrower and Loans information

All files

• Does all of the above one after the other
